TheStreet.com is one of the best-known financial web sites, a go-to place for Wall Street junkies to find stock insights and business trends. Now you can add bicycling to that list. The Street has just posted a story about Gates Carbon Drive by writer Jonathan Blum, whose article “Riding The Street On A Bike With No Chain” talks about trends and new technologies in the commuter bike market.
“Belt drives are light, fast and offers gobs of control,” writes Blum, who rode a Spot Brand Ajax Belt in New York City’s popular 5 Boro Bike Tour, attended by 30,000 bicyclists. Blum enjoyed the quietness of the Carbon Drive and also liked all the attention his belted Ajax garnered from other riders.
“Factor in the Spot’s hip factor and overall solid fit and finish and there was not a time over my six-hour city tour that I was not chatting with an interested fellow rider about the ins and outs of belt drives.”
“It was — and I was — cool.”
