Lekker means tasty or delicious in Dutch. Or, in millennial slang, hot. Bicycle brand Lekker Bikes appears to live up to those adjectives.
Lekker Bikes is an Australian company founded by a Dutchman, Meindert Wolfraad, in 2009. Lekker has two stores in Australia (Melbourne and Sydney) and it sells online throughout Australia. Lekker also has shops in Amsterdam and Antwerp, and it sells online across Europe. Last year, the brand created a US/Canada website to sell online into North America, and it plans to open a store in the United States. “We design and manufacture all our own bikes and products,” says Colin Jeffery, the Sydney store manager. “We make high-quality bikes with a good sense of style and really cater to city riders, commuters, and families who want something well-priced, high-quality, and low-maintenance–bikes that are worry free. This is why we have chosen to implement internal gearing on all our bikes and, more recently, Gates belt drives.
Lekker offers three models with Gates Carbon Drive, the Amsterdam Elite 3 Speed, the Amsterdam Elite NuVinci Step Through and the “space blue” Amsterdam Elite Nuvinci. We can’t comment on their tastiness, but these Lekker bikes sure look fun to ride.
