The Red Hook Crit is a track bike race series in which elite competitors speed around technical courses on fixed-gear bikes before thousands of cheering spectators. Milano, Italy, is the final race in the four-city series. Team Schindelhauer-Gates was there to lay it all on the line.
Team Schindelhauer-Gates, a belt driven squad sponsored by Gates Carbon Drive and Berlin’s Schindelhauer Bikes, began the fast and furious racing in Milano with high hopes but was hobbled by crashes and injuries. Even so, Adrian Merkt finished fourth in his qualifying heat and grabbed a respectable 17th place finish in the crowded finals, which featured the world’s fastest fixed-gear street racers. Meet the team and check out the action and pre-race shenanigans in the video below. And watch out for the squad in 2018 as it takes to the streets to show the smooth power and efficient performance of the Gates Carbon Drive belt system.
