Gates Unchains Arizona

Gates will demo several cutting-edge mountain bikes at Sedona Mountain Bike Fest 2021

The red rocks and canyons of Sedona, Arizona make for an imposing and beautiful landscape. It’s the perfect place to go mountain biking, with an abundance of trails suited to various levels of experience. Amidst this backdrop, the Sedona Mountain Bike Festival 2021 will be held from November 12 – 14 at 525 Posse Ground Road, and at the Gates booth, attendees will have the opportunity to ride two Zerode models – the Katipo and the Taniwha.

Both bikes are mountain bikes which use a combination of a Gates Carbon Drive and Pinion gearbox. Riders at Sea Otter 2021 also got the chance to test rode the Zerodes and they were full of praise for the bikes. The Pinion gearbox is mounted centrally in the frame, at the bottom of the down tube. This decreases unsprung mass, improves the sensitivity of the bike, and makes for a more equal weight distribution. The back wheel of the bike is also significantly lighter. The Gates belt lasts longer, keeps things running smoothly, won’t get snagged on debris, can be cleaned easily using just water, and doesn’t need to be lubricated. With the belt, you can focus all your attention on the trail and the sensation of the bike.

To whet your appetite, here are some shots of the Zerodes in action.

Aren’t they stunning? If you have purchased a wristband then you can ride one of these bikes at the festival. But please remember, safety first, and keep the following rules in mind:

  • If there is bad weather at the festival, the demos will be shut down
  • Demo e-bikes are not allowed on any single track in Sedona. They are only allowed in the park where the festival is taking place, and on dirt roads in the area.
  • Only attendees with a wristband will be allowed to ride the demo bikes.

If you’re coming down to Sedona, be sure to check out our booth and ride these magnificent mountain machines. As a reminder, the festival is from November 12 – 14. Find out more about the festival at www.sedonamtbfestival.com and check them out on Facebook. We hope to see you there!
